Application Purpose

The primary application of this testing apparatus is to evaluate the indelibility of markings on rating labels. By subjecting the markings to a specific testing process, it determines how well the markings can withstand wear and abrasion, which is crucial for ensuring the longevity and legibility of important information on products.

Equipment Description

Principal Component: The key part of the apparatus is a disc made of hard white buffing felt. This disc has a diameter of 65 mm and a thickness of 7.5 mm. It is designed to be locked against rotation and is set up in a way that it can move across the surface of the rating label being tested.

Movement Specifications: The disc moves with a stroke of 20 mm across the test surface. During this movement, it exerts a measurable force on the surface. This controlled movement and force application simulate real-world conditions that the rating labels might encounter, such as rubbing or abrasion.

Testing Procedure: The standard test protocol involves 12 strokes (equivalent to rotations of the eccentric). This entire test process is designed to take approximately 15 seconds. These specific parameters have been established to provide a consistent and repeatable method for assessing the durability of the markings.
