Product Description

IEC60884-1 Figure 27 Single Station Apparatus For Impact Test At Low Temperature Mechanical Release

 

Standard:

IEC 60884-1 'Plugs and socket-outlets for household and similar purposes – Part 1: General requirements' clause 24.4, clause 30.4, figure 27 and figure 42.

 

Standard description:

 

Clause 24.4:

The specimens are subjected to an impact test by means of an apparatus as shown in figure 27.

 

The apparatus, positioned on a pad of sponge rubber 40 mm thick, is placed together with the specimens in a freezer at a temperature of (–15 ± 2) °C, for at least 16 h.

 

At the end of this period, each specimen, in turn, is placed in the normal position of use as shown in figure 27, and a weight is allowed to fall from a height of 100 mm. The mass of the falling weight is (1 000 ± 2) g.

After the test, the specimen shall show no damage within the meaning of this standard.

 

Clause 30.4 Impact test at low temperature:

The specimens are subjected to an impact test by means of the apparatus as shown in figure 42. The mass of the falling weight is (100 ± 1) g.

 

The apparatus, on a sponge rubber pad, 40 mm thick, is placed, together with the specimens, in a freezer at a temperature of (–15 ± 2) °C for at least 24 h.

 

At the end of this period, each specimen in turn, is placed in position, as shown in figure 42, and the falling weight is allowed to fall from a height of 100 mm. Four impacts are applied successively to the same specimen, rotating it through 90° between impacts.

 

After the test the specimens are allowed to attain approximately room temperature and are then examined.

No cracks of the insulating sleeves shall be visible with normal or corrected vision without additional magnification.

 

Application:

This device is use for checking the impact resistance at low temperature of electrical accessories, as well as wires and cables.

 

Test sample: 

Electrical accessories, surface type mounting boxes, screw glands, covers, wires and cables etc.

 

Feature:

This device should be used with low temperature chamber, the device should be placed on the sponge rubber pad of about 40mm thick, and should be put in the low temperature chamber before and during the test.

Operation Manual, mechanical release

 

Test method:

1. Before first use, user should be familiar with the relevant standards for more effective and proper using the test apparatus and completing the test.

 

2. The specimen is placed under the steel intermediate piece, the weight is hook by the hanger, adjust the hook’s position, at the end of this period, each specimen, in turn, is placed in the normal position of use as shown in figure 27, and a weight is allowed to fall from a height of 100 mm. The mass of the falling weight is (1000±2) g.

 

3. The apparatus, positioned on a pad of sponge rubber 40 mm thick, is placed together with the specimens in a freezer at a temperature of (-15±2)℃, for at least 16h.

 

4. When that time is up, press the release handle on the device, the weight is free drop on the specimen, after the test, the specimen shall show no damage within the meaning of this standard.

 

5. Clean and maintain the equipment after the test is completed.
